Report: Packers have interest in Westbrook
One NFC North club has been rumored to be a potential destination for running back Brian Westbrook.
Minnesota Vikings coach Brad Childress was on the coaching staff in Philadelphia when Westbrook’s career began with the Eagles. The match makes sense too because the Vikings remain in the market for a complementary running back to pair with Adrian Peterson. Still, the Vikings have not made a move for Westbrook and could fill their need in the draft or rely on Albert Young.
Meanwhile, another NFC North club has emerged as a potential destination for Westbrook. Tom Silverstein of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports that the Green Bay Packers could be in the market for Westbrook, who missed nearly half the season last year with two concussions. According to the report, two sources have indicated that the Packers have shown interest in Westbrook.
The Packers haven’t had a real productive third-down back and Westbrook could fill that void as he is an accomplished receiver out of the backfield. The Philadelphia Eagles cut Westbrook loose because his contract was prohibitive. He’s been cleared for action but it remains to be seen where he’ll land. The Packers could wait to see what comes their way in the draft too. Stay tuned.
