The Green Bay Packers accomplished their biggest goals for this offseason by signing outside linebacker Clay Matthews and quarterback Aaron Rodgers to massive contract extensions.

Now, there could be another extension coming along if the sides can find some common ground. Safety Morgan Burnett could be next for a new deal with the Packers as Jason La Canfora of CBS Sports reports the club is working to “hammer out a new deal” for Burnett, who was drafted in the third round back in 2010. Burnett is entering the final year of his rookie contract and is set to earn $1.323 million this season.

Burnett made a career-high 123 tackles last season with two sacks, two interceptions and two forced fumbles. Packers coach Mike McCarthy has talked up Burnett this offseason and the team has a leadership void to fill with the departure of Charles Woodson.

The next major deal for the club could involve defensive tackle B.J. Raji. Green Bay has put a premium on extending its own players under general manager Ted Thompson.
