Report: Panthers star Greg Hardy arrested for suspicion of domestic violence

Carolina Panthers star defensive end Greg Hardy has been arrested for suspicion of domestic violence involing his girlfriend in Charlotte, N.C., according to police.

He faces misdemeanor charges of communicating threats and assault on a female, according to the Charlotte Obsever.

"We are very disappointed to learn of the allegations involving Greg and are concerned for all parties as we continue to investigate,” the Panthers said in a statement.

Hardy is the Panthers' franchise player.

He was given a $1.3 million advance on the $13.1 million tender to attend the Panthers' offseason training program.

Hardy set a franchise record last season with 15 sacks.
