Report: Rams bench Jason Brown

Jason Brown’s impressive streak of consecutive starts will come to an end Sunday in Cleveland.

But the St. Louis Rams center isn’t injured. Instead, he will be benched and replaced by Tony Wragge, according to Jim Thomas of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch.

It’s a curious move by the Rams, who signed Brown to a massive contract in free agency three years ago. Per the report, most of the pass-protection issues have been with the offensive tackles. Brown has started 84 straight games. Thomas reports Brown has been one of the highest-graded linemen on the team this season, and no one offers an explanation for the move.

Only Kansas City’s Casey Wiegman (167) and Baltimore’s Matt Birk (88) have longer streaks for consecutive starts.
