Report: Rams want a retractable roof on Edward Jones Dome
There has been a legal tangle in Missouri over whether or not details about negotiations between the St. Louis Rams and the Convention and Visitor’s Commission over stadium upgrades should be made public.
The state is set to release the information on Monday but KTVI in St. Louis has some details early and one is interesting. According to the Fox affiliate, the team wants the roof of the Edward Jones Dome to be removed and replaced by a retractable roof, a pricy add-on to the stadium. Per the report, retrofitting the building with a retractable roof could cost between $200 million and $300 million.
The Rams will be able to break their lease after the 2014 season if the stadium is not in the top-quarter facilities in the league. The club already rejected a proposal from the CVC to upgrade the stadium. The new roof was part of the team’s counterproposal. If the sides cannot reach an agreement, it will go to an arbitrator.
The attorney general will release details on Monday.
