Report: Stafford has separated shoulder

Detroit Lions quarterback Matthew Stafford could miss his third game this season on Thursday as ESPN’s Chris Mortensen reported that he is dealing with a separated left shoulder.

Stafford was injured on the second-to-final play of Sunday’s 38-37 victory over the Cleveland Browns at Ford Field when defensive lineman C.J. Mosley drove him into the turf. Pass interference was called on the play, and Stafford held himself together to throw a one-yard touchdown pass to tight end Brandon Pettigrew for the victory.

Stafford missed two games earlier this season with a dislocated knee cap. The good news is this latest injury is to his non-throwing shoulder. The Lions host the Green Bay Packers on Thanksgiving.
