Report: Stanford a possible landing spot for Ron Turner
Slowly, the offensive coaches the Chicago Bears fired a month ago are landing in new places. Could they get their business taken care of before Lovie Smith is finished revamping his coaching staff? Maybe.
Ex-offensive coordinator Ron Turner has a couple options and according to the Chicago Tribune he has spoken with Stanford coach Jim Harbaugh about being the school’s offensive coordinator. Turner previously held that role at Stanford from 1989-91 under coach Denny Green. In his first stint as the offensive coordinator for the Bears, Turner coached Harbaugh in 1993.
Turner might have options in the NFL. The report states he has been asked to meet with the New York Giants about their quarterback coach job that became available when Chris Palmer retired from the NFL. Turner was thought to have a shot at a job with the Carolina Panthers but that didn’t materialize.
