Report: Startup football league will be unveiled for India

Are you ready for a new football league?

The United Football League is teetering on the brink of non-existence, but plans are in the works for a new league to be hatched very soon.

Daniel Kaplan of Sports Business Journal reports that on Friday a new starting football league backed by Mike Ditka, Ron Jaworski and Michael Irvin will be announced. The league will be based in India. Yes, that’s India the country, not Indiana the state.

Per Kaplan, the belief is this venture will take off because the country is “crazy about American entertainment.” Green Bay Packers linebacker Brandon Chillar, who is of Indian descent, is also backing the league.

Maybe this is one reason the NFL wants to expand its brand globally.
