Report: Steve Smith sticking in Carolina

With all of the money the Carolina Panthers spent on Tuesday and Wednesday keeping their own players, maybe it only makes sense for Steve Smith to remain a member of the gang.

The veteran wide receiver has been rumored to be on his way out of Carolina via trade all offseason, but now it appears he could be remaining in place.

Our friend Michael Lombardi, a former columnist for the National Football Post, reports for the NFL Network that Smith isn’t going anywhere after a meeting with Panthers general manager Marty Hurney.

Smith “met with Panthers GM last night and will be in camp tomorrow,” Lombardi tweeted.

Maybe the situation could change, but right now Smith will be a Panther.
