Report: Steve Spagnuolo to the Saints

You can’t classify it as a straight swap because Steve Spagnuolo is the former head coach of the St. Louis Rams.

But he will now take over the New Orleans Saints’ defense after that man that preceded him left to run the defense of the Rams.

Yes, Spagnuolo will be hired as the defensive coordinator of the Saints, according to Jay Glazer of Fox Sports. He replaces Gregg Williams, who bolted to become the defensive coordinator of the Rams.

Spagnuolo was fired after completing his third season with the Rams and putting together just a 10-38 record. But previously he had a strong run as a defensive coordinator for the New York Giants and position coach for the Philadelphia Eagles.

It looked like a good fit from the start and now the Saints have someone who wants to bring pressure but not to the extremes Williams did.
