Report: Teams have contacted Fisher

With several NFL head coaching vacancies upcoming every off-season, it is no surprise that long-time Tennessee Titans coach Jeff Fisher's name would be bandied about as a hot candidate this off-season.

But Jason LaCanfora of the NFL Network reports that a couple of teams haven't even waited for the coaching carousel to begin in the off-season and have already been in contact with Fisher, who left the Titans earlier this year after 17 seasons at the helm.

LaCanfora speculates that the Dallas Cowboys, New York Giants, San Diego and St. Louis Rams are teams that might be in the market for Fisher. Although his ties to Jerry Jones are strong from being on the NFL's Competition Committee together, it would be interesting to see whether Jerry would jettison Jason Garrett so quickly, even with Sunday's gaffe of icing his own kicker before what would have been a game-winning field goal.

As for the Giants, there has been speculation again that Tom Coughlin's style may have run its course and Fisher's relaxed hand might be a good fit there.

As for the Chargers, Norv Turner (and quite possibly GM A.J. Smith) could be on the way out, while the Rams are a mess, and Fisher or anyone else who took that would have a major mess to clean up.

One team not mentioned in the report's speculation that already has a head coaching vacancy is Jacksonville, where Fisher once claimed his Titans had home away from home (though that one might not be Fisher's first choice). Also, not mentioned is Philadelphia, where Fisher was once defensive coordinator should Andy Reed not stay on with the Eagles.
