Report: Tebow picked Jets for chance to start

Tim Tebow chose the New York Jets as his new home because he believes he can become the team's new starting quarterback, says a report from the New York Daily News.

The Jets have said that Mark Sanchez remains the team's starting quarterback and that Tebow will be the No. 2 QB with certain packages put in to take advantage of his unique running abilities.

It's great that Tebow is confident enough that he can beat out Sanchez, but if he is confident enough in his abilities to do that, then why wouldn't he have headed home to Jacksonville where Blaine Gabbert and Chad Henne have less impressive accomplishments than Sanchez?

According to the story, it is because only Jaguars owner Shahid Khan was on board with wanting Tebow to come home to Jacksonvlle. The report said Jags GM Gene Smith and the Jacksonville coaching staff, led by new coach Mike Mularkey, were not enthusiastic about adding Tebow. (Memo to Mularkey: Before you commit too much to Gabbert and Henne, you might want to check what happened to the coaching staffs who cast their lot with those two in 2011).

And so, the great Jets quarterback controversy has begun - even if the Jets themselves say it hasn't.
