Report: Vick will sign franchise tender today
Michael Vick is falling in line like most of the other players that have had the franchise tag placed on them in the last two weeks.
The Philadelphia Eagles will sign his franchise tender today, according to Jeff McLane of the Philadelphia Inquirer. The one-year deal will be worth more than $16 million in 2011, and ought to be motivation for long-term talks. Of course, everything is in limbo until a new collective bargaining agreement can be reached.
The Eagles have to want to lock Vick up with a multi-year contract. Otherwise, they will be in the same position with a quarterback coming out of contract after next season.
Next, the Eagles have to plot a course of action with backup quarterback Kevin Kolb, who they are rumored to be shopping.
