Report: Warner to announce future Friday

Kurt Warner promised it would not take long for him to make a decision on his future after the Arizona Cardinals’ season ended less than two weeks ago in New Orleans.

He’s a man of his word. Adam Schefter of ESPN has reported that Warner will hold a press conference on Friday to announce his plans. There’s been wide speculation that the two-time MVP will retire a year after leading the Cardinals to their first Super Bowl appearance.

Warner told ESPN columnist Rick Reilly that he had to get the desire to play the game out of his system. Whether he can do that or not, and do it this quickly, remains to be seen. The Cardinals have to hope he returns for another season because no one has confidence that Matt Leinart is ready to lead the team back to the postseason.

Perhaps Brett Favre will steal a page from Warner and make a timely decision about his future. You think?
