Report: Whitehurst visiting the desert

The Arizona Cardinals are turning over the key to the offense to Matt Leinart now that Kurt Warner is gone, but they’re going to take a look at another young quarterback.

The team will bring in Charlie Whitehurst, a restricted free agent from the San Diego Chargers, for a visit today, according to Chris Mortensen of ESPN. Whitehurst was tendered by the Chargers for his original round compensation – a third-round pick. The Cardinals picked up an extra third-round pick in their trade of Anquan Boldin to the Baltimore Ravens over the weekend.

It might be a good way for the Cardinals to get another young quarterback in the building, one they can work to develop in the event Leinart plays like, well, he has so far in his career.
