RG3 will return as starter when ready
Robert Griffin III still has a ways to go before he'll be healthy enough to play again.
But when he's ready, he will be Washington's starting quarterback, coach Jay Gruden told reporters on Wednesday. Griffin dislocated his ankle in a Week 2 game against Jacksonville.
"Once they say he's healthy and he practices with us and we feel like he's ready to go mentally and we have a good game plan for him, then he'll be the starter," Gruden told reporters. "I don't know when that will be yet. It's hard for me to project."
Kirk Cousins has filled in for Griffin in his absence. After a solid game against the hapless Jaguars and an excellent outing against the Eagles, Cousins has fared poorly. It has some in Washington wondering if Colt McCoy should get a look, something Gruden hasn't ruled out.
