Rice: Flacco outplayed Brady in AFC title game
Baltimore Ravens running back Ray Rice had plenty of good things to say about his quarterback Joe Flacco on an Atlanta radio station.
Flacco earlier this off-season created a stir when he said he felt he was the best quarterback in the NFL. In Rice's opinion, Flacco was better than New England's Tom Brady, one of the NFL's best at the position, in the AFC Championship Game, a contest Baltimore lost in overtime. In that game, Flacco had the Ravens in position to win, but a dropped TD pass by Lee Evans and a missed chip shot field goal from Billy Cundiff wound up costing Baltimore a trip to the Super Bowl.
“It was his show. It was his show on offense and as much credit that I was getting and as much respect I was getting from defenses, all Joe really had to do is prove that we can drive the ball down the field and score, and he did that,” Rice told 790 AM in Atlanta in quotes picked up by the Baltimore Sun. “Quite frankly, he outplayed Tom Brady the last game.”
In the AFC title game loss, Flacco was 22 of 36 for 306 yards with two touchdown passes and one interception.
