Richie Incognito threatened Jonathan Martin

It now seems clear why the Dolphins reacted swifttly in suspending offensive lineman Richie Incognito.

According to a report from FOX Sports, Incognito made threats and racial remarks to fellow tackle Jonathan Martin, who abruptly left the team last week before the Dolphins' 22-20 win over Cincinnati.

The report states there are text messages and voicemails that will be used to aid an NFL investigation into whether Incognito was bullying Martin in the Miami clubhouse.

Late Monday night, Incognito was suspended for conduct detrimental to the team.

Incognito stated his innocence on social media, tweeting, "I want my named CLEARED" in repsonse to the allegations.
