Rob Gronkowski unlikely to play against Bucs

The Patriots don't appear ready to trot tight end Rob Gronkowski onto the playing field just yet.

According to a report form the Boston Globe, Gronkowski is physically ready to play. However, the Patriots are inclined to rest the tight end just one more week before gearing him up the rest of the season.

"According to a league source, Gronkowski is healthy enough to play, but the Patriots want to get him more practice time before suiting him up in a game," the Boston Globe's Michael Whitmer wrote. "For that reason, the source said, the Patriots are leaning toward keeping Gronkowski out of Sunday's home game with the Buccaneers."

The Patriots probably wish Gronkowski could go this week. Tom Brady has not had many reliable targets outside of Danny Amendola and Julian Edelman thus far, and Amendola injured his groin against the Bills in Week 1.
