Roethlisberger, Harrison may rework deals

The Pittsburgh Steelers continue to turn to their highest-paid stars in an attempt to alleviate their salary cap problems.

The Steelers have already reworked deals for LaMarr Woodley, Lawrence Timmons and Ike Taylor to lower their cap numbers. They also released Arnaz Battle and Bryant McFadden.

Now, according to the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review, the Steelers will be trying to work with quarterback Ben Roethlisberger and outside linebacker James Harrison to restructure their current deals. Roethlisberger has a base salary of $11.6 million for 2012, while Harrison's base is $5.56 million. Both players appear to be open to reducing their base salaries by taking more up-front money that can be prorated over the remaining life of the contract to reduce their cap hits.
