Roethlisberger, Pouncey have mild ankle sprains
The scheduling probably couldn't have worked out any better for the Pittsburgh Steelers in terms of being able to keep quarterback Ben Roethlisberger and center Maurkice Pouncey in the lineup with their high ankle sprains.
The Pittsurgh Post-Gazette reports that both Roethlisberger and Pouncey suffered Grade 1 high ankle sprains, which is the mildest degree of the sprain.
It also helps that the injuries occurred on a Thursday night against Cleveland, and the Steelers not only benefit from the extra three days from that, but get one more day because their next game is in San Francisco on Monday night.
Pouncey said his injury is not nearly as serious as the one that kept him out of last season's Super Bowl. Meanwhile, Roethlisberger was described as needing "rest," something 11 days between games can give him.
