Roger Goodell expects Super Bowl to return to New Orleans

The power outage that delayed Super Bowl XLVII for 34 minutes on Sunday night at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome will not turn out the lights on New Orleans for future Super Bowls.

NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell said this morning that he is confident New Orleans will be in the mix as a host city for future games.

The electrical problem was isolated to the dome and is something that can be addressed once a final explanation is achieved. Maybe it will serve as teaching tool for future Super Bowls too.

I fully expect that we will be back here for Super Bowls, and I hope we will be back," Goodell said at his press conference this morning, according to Aaron Wilson of the Baltimore Sun. "We want to be back.

“This is clearly something that can be fixed, and it's clearly something that we can prepare for. And we will.”

This was the first Super Bowl in New Orleans in 11 years since Tom Brady and the New England Patriots stunned the St. Louis Rams. It is a popular destination for fans with good weather typically. The bet here is the NFL is back in the Big Easy for a Super Bowl before another 11 years goes by.
