Roger Goodell's training camp bus tour is set
Roger Goodell’s bus tour of training camps isn’t going to get out of the Eastern time zone.
The NFL announced Goodell’s travel schedule for this summer when he will be taking to the road with John Madden. Goodell is scheduled to attend the Green Bay Packers shareholder meeting July 29 at Lambeau Field. Then, he’ll head to New Orleans to visit with the Super Bowl champion Saints on Aug. 2, according to the league's Web site.
Goodell’s bus tour kicks off on Aug. 3 with a visit to the Philadelphia Eagles. Then, he’ll hit the Baltimore Ravens and Washington Redskins on Aug. 4, the Pittsburgh Steelers and Cleveland Browns on Aug. 5 and wrap up with a visit to the Indianapolis Colts on Aug. 7.
In between, the commissioner will squeeze in a trip to Canton, Ohio, for festivities at the Pro Football Hall of Fame enshrinement ceremonies.
Goodell wants to meet with players, coaches and fans on his journey. The belief is he’ll be spreading the word from the owners when it comes to the state of labor negotiations when he meets with players. While he’s not going far, Goodell will still see one-fourth of the NFL’s fan bases in a little more than a week.
