New Orleans Saints strong safety Roman Harper will be named NFC defensive player of the week.

The New Orleans Times-Picayune reports Harper will receive the award later today after the Saints throttled the Chicago Bears 30-13 on Sunday in the Louisiana Superdome. Harper had two of his team’s six sacks on Jay Cutler. Harper had seven tackles.

Harper also knocked Bears wide receiver Earl Bennett out of the game with a crushing blow to his mid-section. It’s possible Harper will be fined for the play. The Bears announced Monday Bennett has a chest injury, but there’s no word yet on how serious it is. Bennett returned to the game but only briefly.
