Russell Okung likely suffers another high ankle sprain
There must be something with Russell Okung and high ankle sprains.
The Seattle Seahawks left tackle suffered the injury to both ankles last season and in the first four plays of the team’s preseason opener Thursday night at San Diego he went out with what looks like it could be another high ankle sprain.
Okung was injured during the first four plays from scrimmage for the Seahawks, according to Danny O’Neil of the Seattle Times.
"Russ has got an ankle sprain," Carroll said. "It was non-contact, you know. Just felt something kind of pop in there. X-rays were negative and all that so we'll see what happens. He's real disappointed."
Is it a dreaded high ankle sprain?
"It's in that area," Carroll said. "It is in that area. We'll see. They were getting some stuff to check it out further, but he's real disappointed obviously. It wasn't even a contact foul."
Okung will have MRI’s in the coming days to get a better read on the situation. Carroll didn’t rule out a relatively quick return for Okung, but sometimes high ankle sprains can take more than a month to heal.
