Russell Okung placed on short-term injured reserve

Seattle Seahawks Pro Bowl offensive tackle Russell Okung was placed on injured reserve-designated to return with a torn ligament in his left big toe.

He got hurt against the San Francisco 49ers.

Okung is eligible to return after eight games, and can begin practicing in six weeks.

Paul McQuistan shifts from left guard to left tackle in Okung's place and James Carpenter will play left guard.

"It's a six-to-eight week injury, so we hope it will all work out right for us," Seahawks coach Pete Carroll told reporters today. "Russell is determined and kind of excited that he has a chance to get back this season, as we are. So we'll just ride it out and take good care of him."
