NFL veteran and former first-round draft pick R.W. McQuarters, a likable character during his 11-year career, is recovering after neing shot early Saturday in Tulsa, Okla.

McQuarters, who was drafted by the San Francisco 49ers in 1998 and last played for the New York Giants in 2008, was leaving a friend’s home in his hometown of Tulsa when police say he was shot by an assailant wearing a ski mask, according to the Tulsa World.
