Ryan uncertain regarding Jets starting QB
New York Jets coach Rex Ryan says he needs more time to determine his starter, according to a flood of reports coming out of his Monday press conference.
Ryan benched struggling Mark Sanchez yesterday against Arizona and replaced him with third-stringer Greg McElroy, who threw a TD pass to account for the Jets' 7-6 win against the Cardinals.
Ryan said Tim Tebow had been cleared before yesterday's game to play, but that he did not feel comfortable yet bringing him back that soon from the rib injury he suffered a few weeks ago.
Ryan added that he will make a decision on his starter later in the week. If it is Tebow, then his return to Jacksonville Sunday will be cause to remove the tarps at Everbank Stadium for the crowd that will lineup to see the hometown hero play in Jacksonville.
Additionally, the Tennessee Titans and the NFL are probably hoping Tebow is named the Jets starter as well. The Titans and Jets have a Monday night game between two non-contending teams in Music City on Dec. 17, and neither the league nor the Titans want to showcase a bunch of empty seats in prime time.
