Saints cutting Pierre Thomas

The New Orleans Saints are cutting veteran running back Pierre Thomas. "I want to thank the New Orleans Saints organization, all my coaches, my teammates and the Who Dat Nation for an amazing adventure," Thomas wrote on Instagram. "I have so many wonderful memories I will never forget. I am thankful to have spent the past 8 years in the great city of New Orleans! As the saying goes, all good things must come to an end but I'm not done yet." Thomas was due $2.1 million next season. Thomas caught 45 passes for 378 yards and one touchdown and rushed for 222 yards and two touchdowns last season. Thomas has played for the Saints since 2007 when he went undrafted out of Illinois. Thomas has 3,745 career rushing yards and 28 touchdowns with 327 receptions for 2,608 yards and 12 touchdowns. In the win over the Colts in Super Bowl XLIV, Thomas caught six passes for 55 yards and a touchdown with 30 rushing yards on nine carries.
