Saints place Vilma on injured reserve-designated to return

The New Orleans Saints have placed linebacker Jonathan Vilma on injured reserve-designated to return with a knee injury.

Vilma has been sidelined since undergoing surgery on his knee in August.

The knee sidelined him for five games two years ago and forced him to start last season on the physically unable to perform list.

Now, the 31-year-old has to miss at least the first eight games.
