Saints will not practice during bye week
The defending Super Bowl champions are attempting to follow the pattern they set last season as much as possible.
Now that the New Orleans Saints are playing a little better, having won two in a row to improve to 6-3, they’ll get to take it easy in their bye week. According to a report in the New Orleans Times-Picayune, the Saints will not practice this week.
Players are to report for meetings today and treatment but other than that they will only be asked to maintain their conditioning during the week. They will not return to practice until Monday.
The Saints crushed the New York Giants 48-27 following a bye last season using this schedule. Per the report, coach Sean Payton said he got the schedule from Philadelphia Eagles coach Andy Reid. The Eagles ran their record to 12-0 following a bye under Reid with their victory over the Indianapolis Colts on Sunday.
Sounds like the schedule works for some coaches. Some are far too hands on to ever allow their players an entire week off during the season.
