Sam Bradford glad he's working with QB coach again

The St. Louis Rams are working through their first minicamp under new coach Jeff Fisher and one change this year is the addition of a quarterbacks coach.

Last year, Bradford was working without one as offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels chose to be his own quarterbacks coach and erase the middle man in the equation. Now, Frank Cignetti is the quarterbacks coach under new offensive coordinator Brian Schottenheimer in Bradford’s third offense in three seasons.

I'm glad that we have a quarterbacks coach now," Bradford said, according to Jim Thomas of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch. “Obviously, with Josh trying to do both last year I think it was just a lot for him to handle. Sometimes some of the little things such as drops, footwork, throwing mechanics kind of got put aside as opposed to putting reads and everything in front. I think it's going to be great for my development.”

The first step is learning the new offense, one that Bradford says has similarities to what he did in 2010 under then coordinator Pat Shurmur when he was the offensive rookie of the year.

“I like the offense that we're running this year,” Bradford said. “It's more similar to two years ago than to last year. There is some carryover, so I am somewhat familiar with it, which makes it nice trying to learn it again.”

Bradford will have the benefit of a full offseason program to learn the new scheme this time around. That will help. He believes the presence of a quarterbacks coach will aid in the process.
