Sanchez says he can make it work with Holmes

New York Jets quarterback Mark Sanchez said on an ESPN radio appearance that he is willing to make things work with wide receiver Santonio Holmes, who came under plenty of criticism from teammates, who called him among other things a "quitter" and a "cancer."

Holmes was benched in the waning moments of the Jets' elimination loss in Miami, but is under contract with the Jets for next season.

"We've got to make it work. That's what you do as a teammate," Sanchez said on the show via the New York Post.

Sanchez might just be realizing the obvious that the Jets won't be able to rid themselves of Holmes without a cap hit they might not want to take. So he is simply trying to patch things up to a point where things with Holmes can be tolerable.

The off-season is just beginning, but the way the Jets melted down at the end, this promises to be a most interesting off-season for Gang Green.
