Seahawks cut Kellen Winslow Jr.

It wasn’t too long ago Kellen Winslow Jr. was the highest-paid tight end in the NFL.

Now, he’s on the street looking for work.

The Seattle Seahawks have cut the veteran, according to Adam Schefter of ESPN, and Danny O’Neil of the Seattle Times reported the belief is Winslow declined to accept a pay cut. The Seahawks traded a conditional 2013 draft pick to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers for Winslow in the spring. But he was due to earn a base pay of $3.3 million this season and earn as much as $550,000 in roster bonuses.

Seattle invested heavily in the tight end position last season when it signed Zach Miller in free agency. Over the last three seasons, Winslow has 218 receptions for 2,377 yards and 12 touchdowns.
