Seahawks get good news with Okung

An MRI on Seattle Seahawks left tackle Russell Okung brought back encouraging news.

The rookie first-round draft pick, drafted to fill the massive shoes left by future Hall of Famer Walter Jones, will only miss two to four weeks after suffering a sprained ankle in Saturday night’s preseason meeting with the Green Bay Packers.

According to Jason La Canfora of NFL.com, that means Okung is finished for the preseason. The hope is the Seahawks will have been back in time for the season opener.

Okung wasn’t the only player headed for a visit with the MRI machine today. Defensive lineman Kentwan Balmer suffered ankle and knee injuries and was scheduled to have them checked out, according to Danny O’Neil of the Seattle Times.
