Seahawks name T-Jack starting quarterback
That didn’t take long.
The Seattle Seahawks have picked a starting quarterback, and they did so decisively from a group some wouldn’t want much to do with.
Seahawks coach Pete Carroll announced that recently signed Tarvaris Jackson will start the season for the Seahawks in that role, according to Danny O’Neil of the Seattle Times.
Why make the announcement now? Well, by making a quick decision at the start of camp, Carroll avoids the scrutiny and circus that often comes with a full-blown quarterback competition. He also selects the quarterback that new offensive coordinator Darrell Bevell has worked with in the past. So those factors made it an easy selection.
Carroll added that Charlie Whitehurst will have the opportunity to compete for the job but he needs to get up to speed in the playbook, something that was impossible during the lockout.
