Seahawks will be without Sidney Rice Thursday
The Seattle Seahawks will be without Sidney Rice Thursday night as the wide receiver suffered a concussion for the second time in three weeks.
The Seahawks are hosting the Philadelphia Eagles and have to make do without their top free-agent pickup. Rice has just 32 receptions this season and this will be the third game he has missed.
“We're going to be very careful at this point," Seahawks coach Pete Carroll said, according to Danny O’Neil of the Seattle Times. “That's why I'm saying, I'm everything but ruling him out. We have to take care of him. There's not a helmet that he could put on his head that he could play with this weekend.”
Ben Obomanu will start in Rice’s place and Mike Williams will have to step up. The Eagles will be without playmakers too. Quarterback Michael Vick is not expected to play with broken ribs. Eagles wide receiver Jeremy Maclin will likely miss a third straight game with shoulder and hamstring issues.
