Second preseason game brings more QB struggles for Cardinals

If the Arizona Cardinals were seeking some clarity in their quarterback derby coming out of the second of five preseason games, well, there is always the third game.

A 27-17 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs on Friday night at Arrowhead Stadium didn’t provide many answers – at least many the Cardinals would like.

It was John Skelton’s turn a week after he directed a long scoring drive and he was positively underwhelming. Skelton completed 3 of 6 passes for 35 yards and was intercepted once. Kevin Kolb, who suffered a chest bruise in the Hall of Fame Game, didn’t fare any better. Under big pressure Kolb completed 1 of 5 passes.

Coach Ken Whisenhunt was asked about his quarterbacks after the game.

I don't have very good impressions about our team in general right now,” he said, according to Kent Somers of the Arizona Republic. “We didn't play well in any phase.”

The Cardinals are running short on time to find a solution at the quarterback position. Hopefully, this storyline doesn’t carry on for them or it will set up to be a long season.
