Set to come off PUP, Saints release LB Clint Ingram
Instead of gearing up for his first practice of the season as he prepared to come off the physically unable to perform list, Clint Ingram will be looking for a new job.
The New Orleans Saints terminated the contract of the linebacker on Tuesday, according to Sheldon Mickles of the Baton Rouge Advocate.
Ingram had signed a one-year contract with the Saints in May, and became available after the Jacksonville Jaguars rescinded a tender offer to him as a restricted free agent. Ingram was coming off knee surgery, and was finally set to get on the field after missing the entire offseason and summer.
Saints coach Sean Payton said on his radio show Monday that Ingram and veteran safety Darren Sharper, who has also been on PUP, would begin practicing today. Apparently sometime between that announcement and Tuesday, the plan changed for Ingram.
