Shiancoe claims all is cool with Sharper
Now, it’s all been in good fun?
That is what Visanthe Shiancoe would like you to believe. Just some good-natured ribbing between former teammates and friends in advance of an anticipated season opener between the Minnesota Vikings and New Orleans Saints.
We’re not sure if we’re buying his version of events, though, not after he fired a Twitter grenade earlier in the week with a photo from a target-shooting exercise in which he depicted Saints safety Darren Sharper as international terrorist Osama bin Laden. Sharper reacted angrily via Twitter, and certainly Shiancoe used faulty judgment in mixing in bin Laden in a very public forum.
Now, Shiancoe is claiming everything is cool. He tweeted to Rick Alonzo of the St. Paul Pioneer Press that Sharper “isn’t mad at all,” not after they spoke to one another on Wednesday.
“I can't believe that anyone is falling for his nonsense,” Shiancoe tweeted Alonzo.
The whole matter began back when Sharper announced that X marked the spot with Brett Favre after the Vikings quarterback underwent ankle surgery, a step toward his return to Minnesota this season. It’s escalated since and we frankly doubt that Sharper and Shiancoe are fast friends right now as Shiancoe would like everyone to believe.
