Shockey happy to be back on practice field
The New Orleans Saints say there are no concerns that Jeremy Shockey’s fainting episode a little more than a week ago is a sign of a greater health issue for the veteran tight end.
Shockey has participated in parts of the team’s veteran minicamp this weekend, resting during other portions because of a balky back.
"It's good to be back," Shockey told reporters. "God bless that everything came back good news, and put that behind me. Now I can focus on getting in better shape, getting in football shape.”
Other than that, Shockey didn’t have anything to add to the situation. Coach Sean Payton had previously explained that Shockey passed out because he was dehydrated. Perhaps he didn’t eat and drink properly before working out.
"I'm not a doctor," Shockey said. "I think (Payton) did a good job of putting it in the media. If you want to know what it was, listen to his comments.”
Shockey has had durability issues throughout his career at one of the tougher positions in the NFL to remain healthy. We’ll see how he does moving closer to the season.
