Some teams considering Temple TE Maneri as tackle
Some teams view Temple’s Steve Maneri as one of the better blocking prospects in the draft. Others might view him as a developmental offensive tackle.
Maneri participated in the Texas vs. The Nation all-star game where the idea of him making a position switched gained some momentum and he held his own in pass blocking. Maneri measured 6-6, 268 pounds last month at his pro day, and clearly he would have to bulk up to play tackle, but it is believed that some teams are considering him for that role, especially teams using zone blocking schemes.
Maneri, who ran the 40-yard dash in 4.84 seconds and did 23 reps on the bench press at 225 pounds during his pro day, has marginal speed and quickness for a tight end but his feet are good and he’d be considered an athletic offensive tackle, especially on the right side. Teams have been in contact with him recently, according to a league source, and he might be a solid fit for Atlanta, Seattle or Washington. Houston, Philadelphia and the New York Jets are believed to have shown interest in him as well. Keep an eye on him in the late rounds.
