Source: Bengals try out Adrian Robinson, Yawin Smallwood

The Cincinnati Bengals worked out linebackers Adrian Robinson and Yawin Smallwood today, according to a league source.

The Bengals placed linebacker Sean Porter on injured reserve and claimed linebacker Khairi Fortt off waivers from the New Orleans Saints.

Robinson has previous stints with the San Diego Chargers, Pittsburgh Steelers, Philadelphia Eagles and the Washington Redskins.

Robinson originally signed with Pittsburgh as an undrafted rookie free agent.

He played in 12 games for the Steelers as a rookie, all on special teams. Last year, the Steelers traded Robinson to the Philadelphia Eagles in exchange for running back Felix Jones.

The Eagles later waived Robinson and he was claimed by the Denver Broncos. Robinson played in six games for the Broncos, recording one tackle on defense and two on special teams before he was waived.

Robinson attended Temple University where he was a first-team All-Mid-American Conference pick as a senior, as well as an East Coast Athletic Conference All-Star.

As a sophomore in 2009, Robinson was the conference Defensive Most Valuable Player along with a first-team all-conference pick after recording 14 tackles for loss and five forced fumbles.

Smallwood is a former Falcons seventh-round draft pick from Connecticut. He has recently worked out for the Arizona Cardinals and New England Patriots.

The 6-foot-2, 246-pounder has 336 tackles over the past three seasons.

Smallword started every game at middle linebacker and had 118 tackles, nine for losses and four sacks last season with an interception, a forced fumble and a fumble returned for a touchdown.

As a junior, he had 120 tackles with two forced fumbles. As a sophhomore, he had 94 tackles, 2.5 for losses and 1.5 sacks with an interception and a forced fumble.

Smallwood had a 5.01 in the 40-yard dash at the NFL scouting combine, but that was only because he strained his left hamstring. Smallwood is actually faster than that time. He bench pressed 225 pounds 18 times and had a 36.5-inch vertical leap.
