Falcons sign tight end Tony Moeaki

The Atlanta Falcons have signed veteran tight end Tony Moeaki. Moeaki is a former Kansas City Chiefs third-round draft pick from Iowa whose connection to the Falcons is through assistant general manager Scott Pioli, who drafted him in Kansas City. Given Moeaki's injury history, it's expected to be a one-year deal for the veteran minimum. Moeaki caught eight passes for 134 yards and a touchdown last season with the Seattle Seahawks. He had six first downs and averaged 16.7 yards per reception. Moeaki was with the Buffalo Bills before reaching a three-week injury settlement following a hamstring pull. Two years ago, the Chiefs waived Moeaki from injured reserve with an injury settlement. Moeaki fractured his scapula during the preseason against the Pittsburgh Steelers. Moeaki caught 47 passes for 556 yards and three touchdowns as a rookie. In 2012, Moeaki caught 33 passes for 453 yards and a touchdown.
