Source: Falcons try out Trent Edwards, Mike Kafka
The Atlanta Falcons tried out veteran quarterbacks Trent Edwards and Mike Kafka, according to a league source.
Neither were immediately signed to a contract.
Edwards has 33 starts, including stints with the Buffalo Bills, Jacksonville Jaguars, Oakland Raiders and Philadelphia Eagles. He was last with the Chicago Bears.
He worked out for the Oakland Raiders in October.
Selected by Buffalo in the third round of the 2007 draft, Edwards has completed 563 of 929 passes (60.6 percent) for 6,033 yards with 26 touchdowns, 30 interceptions and a 75.5 passer rating. He also has rushed for 330 yards and three touchdownss on 78 carries. His career record as a starter is 14-19.
Edwards' top season came in 2008 when he started 14 games for the Bills, completing 245 of 374 passes for 2,699 yards with 11 touchdowns, 10 interceptions and an 85.5 passer rating.
Kafka has previous stints with the Philadelphia Eagles, Jacksonville Jaguars and the New England Patriots.
He played collegiately at Northwestern before being drafted in the fourth round by the Eagles.
