Source: Patriots sign Matthew Slater to two-year, $4 million extension

The New England Patriots have signed special teams ace Matthew Slater to a two-year contract extesnsion worth $4 million, according to a league source.

The deal includes $3 million guaranteed with a $2 million signing bonus and a guaranteed base salary of $1 million in 2015. He has a $1 million base salary for 2016. He has annual $100,000 incentives for making the Pro Bowl.

Slater is a special-teams standout who has 99 tackles in 98 games for the Patriots.

He's a three-time Pro Bowl selection.
