Source: Patriots tried out Edwin Williams

The New England Patriots tried out center Edwin Williams on Sunday, according to a league source.

Williams is entering his fifth NFL season. He originally signed with the Washington Redskins as an undrafted free agent in 2009 before spending the next three seasons with the Chicago Bears.

Williams started seven of the 15 games he appeared in during the 2011 season with Chicago. He played college football at the University of Maryland.

The Patriots already have two former Maryland products on their roster in defensive tackle A.J. Francis and defensive tackle Joe Vellano.
