Source: Patriots try out eight defensive players

The New England Patriots recently tried out eight defensive players, according to a league source.

That included former Baltimore Ravens third-round linebacker Tavares Gooden, former Philadelphia Eagles linebacker Jamar Chaney and former Miami Dolphins linebacker Austin Spitler.

The Patriots also tried out defensive end Jeremy Beal, former Penn State linebacker Josh Hull, former Dallas Cowboys and Kansas City Chiefs linebacker Orie Lemon, defensive end Louis Nzegwu and linebacker Sean Progar.
