Source: Patriots work out Cortland Finnergan

The New England Patriots worked out veteran cornerback Cortland Finnegan, according to a league source. He wasn't immediately signed to a contract. Finnegan's workout comes at a time when the Patriots lack depth. They have Malcolm Butler and Logan Ryan starting at cornerback. They recently claimed cornerback Rashaan Melvin off waivers from the Baltimore Ravens. Finnegan was supposedly going to retire, but the 31-year-old is obviously interested in playing again. He started for the Miami Dolphins last season, starting a dozen games. Follow me on Twitter: @AaronWilson_NFL Aaron Wilson covers the Texans for The Houston Chronicle
