Purdue tight end Gabe Holmes is visiting the Arizona Cardinals today, according to a league source.
Holmes has visited and worked out for the Oakland Raiders and participated in the Miami Dolphins' local prospect day.
Holmes caught 17 passes for 178 yards and two touchdowns last season.
The 6-foot-5, 258-pounder finished his career with 63 receptions for 552 yards and five touchdowns.
Holmes played in the College Gridiron Showcase all-star game.
Holmes got offered scholarships to Miami and Florida State out of high school. He’s the son of an Olympic long jumper.
Holmes played basketball growing up, not playing football until his sophomore year of high school.
Holmes caught nine passes for 69 yards as a junior, dealing with a wrist injury.
As a sophomore, he caught 25 passes for 158 yards and two touchdowns.
Holmes ran the 40-yard dash in 4.7 seconds at his Pro Day workout.
Holmes grew up playing basketball and didn't play football until his junior year at St. Thomas Aquinas.
